Happy Father’s Day, Mathis Fans!Johnny’s father Clem, pictured here in the 1960s, was one of his biggest musical influences.  Johnny recently said, “To this day my dad is my hero….he taught me, and he was the one who lit a fire under me and said, ‘Let’s go find a teacher who can give you some direction.’ He became my hero musically.”He also helped Johnny make the critical decision of whether to become an Olympic athlete or a singer with Columbia Records.  Good advice from a great father.
